WHAT IS CREAT-A-THON??

This is the fourth year of our nationwide hardware hackathon for college students which aims at bringing out the innovative skills of students by asking them to implement solutions to real life problems in 30 hours. The teams will be mentored and judged by industry experts providing an ideal platform for students to validate and test their innovations along with a chance to win cash prizes.

ENVIRONMENT

Pollution is reaching unimaginable heights causing serious heath concerns to everyone. Can you think of a way to make usage of Green energy solutions more prevalent or make them more popular. Any idea that makes our planet more green and beautiful is welcome.

HealthCARE

Ideas that leverage Healthcare to solve real-world problems in the healthcare sector will be accepted.

Teams can use any sort of hardware and software technology to build their project which solves the challenges in the healthcare sector.

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS AND LIFESTYLE

“It’s the idea that sells”, any innovative or crazy idea that you have when modelled into a concrete presentation makes for a perfect submission to this Track. Open Innovation is for ideas that bring a notable business model and social impact. Teams can use any sort of technology that is necessary.

The IEEE PES student chapter or Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering is an active branch under Banglore chapter of IEEE PES . We constantly conduct events aimed at improving the technical skills of our students as well as hold non technical events to add fun to technology. Create-a thon is your annual flagship event.

Rules and faqs

ELIGIBILITY

The Creatathon is open to all individuals currently enrolled in any Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in India

TEAM SIZE
  1. The team should consist of at least 2 and a maximum of 4 members.
  2. An eligible Individual may join only one Team.
  3. The team leader should represent, act, and enter a Submission, on the behalf of their team.
  4. IEEE Members get a discount on the registration fee.
GENERAL RULES
    1. Every team must register only once.
    2. Teams with different team-names but same team-members will be disqualified.
    3. Teams are not allowed to bring their final prototype/model on the day of the Creat-A-Thon. The shortlisted participants need to build it on the spot on the day of the event in the stipulated time.
    4. Basic facilities like internet,electricity,snacks and working space will be provided.
    5. The responsibility of the components and the materials required for developing the prototype during the Creat-A-Thon lies solely on the participating teams.
    6. Travelling & Lodging must be taken care of by the participants.
  • Meals will be provided.

 

SUBMISSION
  1. All the teams are requested to submit their ideas in the form of an abstract on or before Jan 24th, 2024 using the link provided on the website. 
  2. The abstract submission will have to strictly follow the format provided.
  3. Teams are requested to submit their ideas based on the categories mentioned.
  4. All materials submitted in connection with the Creat-a-thon must be in English.
EVALUATION OF IDEAS
  • All the submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges from the respective industries for their
  1. Creativity
  2. Usability 
  3. Practicality
  4. Innovativeness 
  5. Presentation
  6. Marketability 
  7. Bonus points for Social Media Tagging
  8. Bonus points for best poster creation.
  9. The top 20 percentile teams or a maximum of 20 teams (whichever is higher) will be shortlisted for the final round which will be held at Dayananda Sagar College Of Engineering, Bangalore.
  10. The shortlisted teams will be required to build their proposed prototype on the spot during the final event.
JUDGING
  • The teams will be judged on their effectiveness of work during the event.
  • The following criteria will be considered for the final judging:
    • Percentage of completion
    • Presentation
    • Team-work
